Getting Started

What should I wash before first use?

As soon as you take the machine out of the box, wipe it down and wash all individual accessories and attachments to remove any production residue:

  • Measuring spoon & tamper
  • Lid of electric coffee grinder
  • 2 x 80ml premium double-wall espresso glasses
  • 2 x 310ml premium double-wall cappuccino glasses
  • Espresso stainless steel heating tray
  • Portafilter
  • Single and double espresso filter baskets
  • Latte art stencils
  • Milk tank
  • Detachable 1.40L water tank

How do I unlock my machine for first use?

Before your first brew, the machine needs to be cleaned and unlocked:

  1. Fill the water tank and milk tank to the MAX line and place them in the machine.
  2. Place either the single or double filter basket into the portafilter - without any coffee - and lock it into the brew head.
  3. Plug the machine into a power source and switch it on.
  4. Place a cup underneath the brew head and portafilter.
  5. Press CLEAN and wait for water to draw through the machine into your cup.
  6. Once the process finishes, 2 beeps will sound - your machine is ready to go.

If water doesn't pour out: Remove the portafilter and press CLEAN again. If water still doesn't flow after 5 seconds, press CLEAN to stop, then try again. This can take up to 5 tries. Don't interrupt the cleaning once water is flowing - let it finish and wait for the 2 beeps.

  5. Place a suitable cup under the brew head and milk nozzle. Power the machine on and wait until the control panel stops flashing.

  2. Set the froth level using the dial - turn to the top right for more froth, turn to the bottom left for more hot milk.

  4. Press MILK FROTH. A beep will sound and the button will flash. When frothing is done, another beep sounds. The control panel lights up and the machine switches to standby.

How do I programme custom drink amounts?

You can save your preferred espresso and milk quantities so the machine delivers the exact amount you want each time.

For espresso, double espresso, or milk froth:

  1. Set up the machine as if you're about to make a drink. If needed, fold out the milk nozzle.
  2. Place a cup in position.
  3. Select the function you want to reprogramme. Press the button (one beep) and keep it held down (second beep).
  4. The machine starts dispensing. Let go of the button once the amount you want has come through. You'll hear three beeps - that quantity is now saved.

For cappuccino or latte macchiato (two-step process):

You need to set the milk and espresso quantities separately:

  1. First, set the milk quantity. Make sure the milk nozzle is folded out with a cup underneath. Press the appropriate button, hold it, and release when you've got the right amount of milk. Three beeps sound.
  2. Start a second operation by pressing the same button again (one beep). Wait while the milk portion dispenses.
  3. As soon as the machine switches to making espresso, press and hold the button again (another beep).
  4. Release when you've got the right amount of espresso. Three beeps confirm both quantities are now saved.

How do I reset my machine to factory settings?

  1. Switch off the machine via the ON/OFF button.
  2. Press and hold the SINGLE ESPRESSO and DOUBLE ESPRESSO buttons at the same time.
  3. While holding both buttons, switch the machine back on via ON/OFF. The control panel will flash 5 times and 5 beeps will sound.
  4. Let go of the buttons. The machine has been reset to its original factory settings.

Note: After resetting, you'll need to unlock the machine again before brewing (see the unlocking steps above).

Cleaning & Maintenance

How do I do a light/regular clean?

  1. Unplug the machine and let it cool completely before cleaning.
  2. Clean the milk reservoir and filter baskets after every use.
  3. Rinse through the tube inside the milk reservoir with hot water to remove milk residue after every use.
  4. Regularly run the cleaning programme to clean the milk reservoir system and brew head.
  5. Wipe down the outside of the machine with a damp cloth. Use a little mild detergent for tougher marks.
  6. Dry the machine and all accessories thoroughly before reassembling.
  7. Check the mains cable regularly for any damage.

Important:

  • Don't use toxic, corrosive, or abrasive cleaning agents or scouring sponges.
  • Never immerse the machine in water.
  • Don't use the machine without a container below the brew head and milk nozzle.
  • The water tank and milk reservoir are not dishwasher-safe.

How do I quick-clean the milk frother after use?

This should be done after every use to prevent milk residue drying or going mouldy inside the system.

  1. Fill the milk reservoir with water (instead of milk).
  2. Fold out the milk nozzle using the lever.
  3. Press ON/OFF to switch on and let the machine preheat. The control panel will flash during heating.
  4. Place a suitable cup below the milk nozzle.
  5. Once the panel stops flashing, press the CLEAN button. A beep will sound. The self-cleaning starts and the button will flash.
  6. Let it run. Pour away the contents of the cup when finished.
  7. Repeat if necessary.

How do I clean the filter baskets?

After using the machine, let it cool down. Unlock the portafilter and empty the used grounds into the sink. Rinse the portafilter and filter basket under running water and dry well.

If the baskets seem clogged, use a tiny needle to pop out any grounds caught in the filter holes.

How do I do an intensive clean of the machine, portafilter, and milk frother?

Part 1:

  1. Fill the water tank with water.
  2. Fill the milk reservoir with water.
  3. Fold out the milk nozzle using the lever.
  4. Press and hold the CLEAN button for 4-5 seconds. The blue lights will illuminate and flash.
  5. The cleaning procedure runs for approximately 15 minutes.
  6. The CLEAN button will remain illuminated when this step is complete.

Part 2:

  1. Press the CLEAN button again (about 1 second).
  2. The second cleaning cycle runs for approximately 5 minutes.
  3. Once complete, the yellow indicator light will turn off after 2 beeps.

When and how should I descale my machine?

Signs that descaling is needed: excessive steam, slower brewing, and weaker espresso. When the yellow indicator light comes on, it's time to descale. The light will go out once a cleaning or descaling cycle has been completed.

Limescale affects espresso quality, causes power losses, and shortens the machine's lifespan. The thicker the buildup, the harder it is to remove.

We recommend descaling regularly with a suitable descaling agent, approximately every 2-6 weeks depending on your water hardness and usage.

Using the Coffee Grinder

How do I use the EspressoWorks electric coffee grinder?

The 10-Piece set includes a standalone electric blade grinder. Here's how to use it:

  1. Wipe the grinding chamber and blades with a damp, lint-free cloth before first use. Warning: blades are extremely sharp - handle with care.
  2. Place the grinder on a flat surface and remove the lid.
  3. Pour coffee beans into the grinding chamber. Do not use more than 30g.
  4. Secure the lid onto the motor base, aligning the arrow with the "OFF" marking.
  5. Plug in the grinder.
  6. Turn the lid clockwise to the "ON" mark. The grinder runs as long as the lid is held at ON. Release the lid and it returns to OFF, stopping the grinder.
  7. Check the grind through the transparent lid. Never remove the lid until the blades have stopped completely.
  8. Once you've reached your desired grind, unplug the grinder.
  9. Remove the lid and pour out the grounds.

Important: Don't run the grinder continuously for more than 30 seconds. After a full cycle, let it rest for 3 minutes before using again.

How do I clean the coffee grinder?

  1. Always switch off and unplug before cleaning.
  2. Never let the motor unit, power cable, or plug get wet. Only the transparent lid can be immersed in water.
  3. Clean the lid with water and mild detergent. It's not dishwasher-safe. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
  4. Never immerse the motor base in water or fill the grinding chamber with water.
  5. Wipe the grinding chamber and blades with a damp cloth, then dry thoroughly. Handle blades with care - they're extremely sharp.
